On August 24, 2018, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow on the sidelines of the summit of the heads of the states-founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS).

The two presidents addressed ways of improving the working methods of the IFAS’ structure and its normative legal documents. They noted the importance of strengthening cooperation with financial organizations and donors for the sake of solving regional problems.

The sides expressed their satisfaction with the process of constant high-level dialogue and the state of relations between the two countries, which are developing significantly.

Tajikistani – Turkmenistani cooperation in the fields of transportation, energy, light industry and processing industries, agriculture, industry, trade, economy, air communication, scientific, cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as healthcare and tourism were commended as priority areas of bilateral relations.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon made speech at the opening ceremony of the International High-Level Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028”

Distinguished Heads of state and government,

Dear Heads and members of delegations,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

At the outset, I welcome all of you in the city of Dushanbe at the International High-Level Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028”.

I hope that following the results of today’s event, held in cooperation with the UN and other partners, effective practical steps will be developed to implement the internationally agreed goals and objectives in the field of water resources.

I am convinced that today’s conference will provide an opportunity to prepare concrete recommendations on the topic of the forthcoming meeting of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, where the SDG 6 will be discussed.

On March 22 of this year, on World Water Day, on the initiative of the President of the UN General Assembly, we jointly launched the process of implementing the new International Decade for Water.

I would like to express my gratitude to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his team for preparing and launching the Decade’s Action Plan, which can be an important tool in its implementation.

Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif 16.04.2018 17:38, Dushanbe city

Ahead of the 23rd session of the ECO Council of Foreign Ministers in Dushanbe, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif.

The two sides discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation. They, in particular, discussed the implementation of agreements on expansion of trade and economy, energy, transportation, industrial and agricultural cooperation as well as people-to-people and humanitarian ties that had been previously reached between the two countries.

The issues concerning cooperation in the sphere of security were also considered.

During the fruitful talks held in an open, friendly and constructive atmosphere, the Heads of State discussed in detail key issues of the current state of relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, prospects for further expanding and deepening of bilateral multifaceted cooperation in the political, trade and economic, transport and communication, culture and humanitarian and other fields, as well as current regional and international issues of mutual interest.

NEW INTERNATIONAL DECADE FOR ACTION, “WATER FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT”, AND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE INTERNATIONAL INITIATIVES OF TAJIKISTAN IN THE FIELD OF WATER.

Today, the problem of water and water deficit in the planet has become one of the axial activities of the mission of the international organizations and separate countries of the world. It is evident that the peoples comprehend the crux of water scarcity in the planet and how dependent the humanity of this welfare, which is a factor of existence of the life on the earth. The high rates of development of the population of the globe have increased demand for drinking water and its use in the production, livelihood and intensive use of agriculture, and has been facing humanity in the global crisis. Therefore, the problem of drinking water shortage is an important for the humanity. Central Asia is one of the most sensitive regions in the water sector and has a large amount of water resources. Tajikistan, as a country with abundant water reserves in the region, accounts for about 60% of its water resources, supports for the fair and reasonable use of these resources through international and regional cooperation, and recognizes the continuous implementation of the water cooperation diplomacy in the field of solving of the water related issues.

PROBLEMS OF EMIGRATION PROCESS IN INDEPENDENT TAJIKISTAN

In the well-known reasons, in the 90-th of the last century on the political map of the world appeared 15 new national, independent countries, one of which was the Republic of Tajikistan. It would seem that the mass migration in the former Soviet space was an obvious phenomenon. People, who ethnically belonged to one of the newly formed countries and residing in another, would want to return and become a citizen of their homeland or leave the country to become a citizen of another country. However, each post-Soviet migrants in the 90-th of the last century had their own reasons to emigrate.

Migration is a complex phenomenon with multidimensional structure, causing an ambiguous change in the economic, social, demographic and ethnic processes. In contrast to other newly formed countries where the migration process seemed logical after the collapse of the Soviet system, the process in Tajikistan has been forced because of beginning political instability.

The political instability claimed the lives of many famous scientists and cultural figures, prominent politicians, journalists, and public figures.
